No matter w...People always love to blame the track. No matter what the surface is. HORSES JUST BREAK DOWN!!! They are athletes, after all, and ALL athletes suffer from one kind of injury or another! Some are temporary, some are permanent. PERIOD! Even as safe or kind as the synthetic surfaces seem to be, there will always be a horse pulling up badly, breaking down completely, whatever! It has always surprised me, frankly, that more catastrophic breakdowns don't happen more than they already do. I AM HAPPY that they don't, but when you realize that in every stride, the horses are poised on one tiny ankle, often times smaller than our own, weighing 1000 lbs or so, and going 40mph, and hopefully not getting bumped or shut off during that fleet nanosecond. Sound horses break them off. Old timers with old injuries usually can take care of themselves and still manage to get a dynamite race in, but it's usually the completely sound horses that snap them off...and that's why there is no warning. Just like a football player that steps wrong, IT HAPPENS. It's just simply more tragic when it's during a horse race or workout. I may not have a lot of supporters here with these comments, but it's the truth. Be informed.

Lisa Johnson
winngcolrz@aol.comAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-934167006275624061.post-18465373334566455852008-12-01T05:51:00.000-08:002008-12-01T05:51:00.000-08:00Yeah, that 7 year old must have been ruined as a t...Yeah, that 7 year old must have been ruined as a two year old.
