Santa Anita Receiving Barn

As promised, here is a photo of the inside of Santa Anita's beautiful receiving barn. Imagine all the great horses who have gone through this round barn!

An interesting bit of information about this structure... it was used as a shower room during World War II, when Japanese Americans were temporarily detained at Santa Anita before being shipped to more-permanent detention camps in the U.S. Apparently a wooden partition separated the males and females.

Mary, I am loving this thread on the receiving barn... very cool! Can we get some more interesting history factoids on SA?

Thanks for the comment! I actually have a series planned, leading up to Breeders Cup, highlighting some of the interesting locations around the track facility. Some ideas I have are press box, announcer's stand, saddling paddock, Seabiscuit's barn, etc., and I would welcome any suggestions.

What about the Jockey Room? The colors room is so cool here - that would be really interesting and would make great pictures. You could also do the Turf Club - art deco is back in!

Great suggestions! I'm putting those on my list for sure. Thanks.
