Best of luck in today's Belmont Stakes to Chocolate Candy and his California connections: trainer Jerry Hollendorfer, jockey Garrett Gomez, and owners Craig Family Trust.
Hollendorfer is expecting improvement by Chocolate Candy, who ran fifth in the Kentucky Derby. He will break from the number 1 post position, and is 10 to 1 morning line odds.

Another boring slow Belmont. Almost 4 sec slower than Secretariat's record in 1973. I don't know what the breeders are doing, but it seems to me they are breeding horses than run slower and slower, while breaking apart more and more.
This bit that some say that time doesn't matter, only winning: someone will always win. There win always be a winner. But not always a good winner. What was outstanding about Secretariat and Ruffian was not just their wins, it was the way they did it, splintering records by 2 secs (S in Belmont) or putting out splits so fast is was unbelievable (Ruffian).
I was hoping for candy too, Mary. (didn't see your post till this am.) Nice about Gia Ponti though.
Watching Candy's Belmont race... Stopped and started several times early in the race - no wonder she tired in the stretch. This horse will win his next race and will pay well based on the Belmont finish.
