Mythical Power to Run in Sunland Derby

Mythical Power looked absolutely stunning as he schooled for trainer Bob Baffert in the Santa Anita paddock before shipping to New Mexico for the 7th running of the $800,000 Sunland Derby on Sunday. Formerly known as the WinStar Derby, the Sunland Derby is a Kentucky Derby prep for 3-year-olds at 1-1/8 miles on a dirt track.

In his last start, Mythical Power won a maiden special weight at one mile on the all weather track at Santa Anita. A field of 12 was entered today for the Sunland Derby, including another Baffert runner, Mayor Marv, and Kelly Leak, trained by Santa Anita-based Mike Machowsky.
