Zenyatta vs. Rachel Alexandra: Larry Zap Weighs In

A recently ended poll on this site asked readers if they would like to see a match race between Rachel Alexandra and Zenyatta. The final count was pretty close, with 69 voting yes (49%), 56 voting no (40%), four votes for "not sure" (2%) and 11 votes for "who cares?" (7%). And still the buzz about the two superstar fillies continues in racing circles.

With Rachel Alexandra set to face the boys in Saturday's Woodward Stakes at Saratoga, Larry Zap offers an interesting slant on the question. Watch for more installments to the video poll over the next few days!

i voted no as i don't want to see a match race in the traditional sense. would like to see them race against each other but fear time has about run out for that to happen. anyhow, while most are picking rachel i'll stick by my gal zenyatta.

what camcorder do you use?

I don't understand how the vote could have been that close. Why wouldn't they want to see that match? I think that Rachel Alexandra is a sure winner, but I still want to see it. Zenyatta is a good looking, strong running horse but not as good as Rachel. D.S. Williamson

I voted NO regarding a match race. Why should Zenyatta travel East for a match race with Rachel. Rachel would win because she has the speed and Zenyatta's style is coming from behind. Match races do not prove anything. I believe that Rachel Alexandra should run in the Breeders Cup and perhaps then we would see them running against each other.

Why is this even a question? Rachel is skipping the Breeders already answers this question. Rachel's handlers believes she would lose to Zenyatta. End of Story.
